One runner today at Wetherby.   This will be his first race.   Ballaquane is a well related son of Scorpion and as with all of his sires progeny he’s very good looking.   Ballaquane is a galloper and to put him into context of the youngsters we’ve run so far he doesn’t have the speed of Ocean Drifter he’s more like Norley in his work and he therefore wi...

Without many runners this is a review of the last two weeks.   05/03/20 Wincanton Cilaos Glace - I was disappointed with him, it was not his ideal track. Nothing has come to light post race so I’m going to try different tactics next time.   07/03/20 Hereford Donladd - I was satisfied with his run, he just got a bit tired in the last two furlongs after a long lay off. His jumpi...

Two runners today at Hereford.   Juliet won her second start over fences at Southwell on ground like this, she jumped well that day and really saw the trip out. It might be best to ignore her last outing at Wetherby when she pulled off a front shoe and finished very sore, she doesn’t have the best feet so it definitely affected her and she took a while to come back right again. Some...

Five runners today.   This is a re organised final after the race was abandoned last weekend, I think Sandown would probably have suited Sevarano more but he did win his bumper here. Sevarano has had a good season, he’s been consistent and the races he’s won have worked out well., I’ve put a visor on him just to get him to travel as he can run lazily in his races. He was...

One runner today at Fakenham.   Prince disappointed last time out when pulling up suddenly half a mile from home. Leighton thought he had gone wrong because he lost his action but it must have been a bang as he was absolutely fine immediately after he came to a halt.   Prince has not missed a day since and he has continued to work and school as well as ever.   Prince is a ver...

One runner today at Hexham. Weststreet won this race last year and he often comes good in the spring for no apparent reason. Weststreet has ability and loves heavy ground, he’s got a bit cute these days and only does what he has to but his latest race at Exeter was a step in the right direction and he had a similar profile at this stage last season.   Weststreet is a funny horse, he...

One runner today at Huntingdon.   Norley ran better than his placing suggests on his first outing at Warwick when a staying on fifth. He can be a bit gawky at times and he just completely missed the break, then when Leighton was threading his way through the field he had all sorts of traffic problems, only really getting a clear run two furlongs from the line and the first four had flown b...

Seaston (Keith) won two pretty average races from a lowly mark by wide margins therefore obviously he took a hike in the handicap. He ran in a better quality race last time out at Chepstow and he was never going, with hindsight I’m not sure he was a hundred per cent right as he was very quiet afterwards. One or two of my horses were definitely affected by their flu jab in January and I thi...

Two runners today at Warwick.   Laurie was very disappointing last time out at Exeter for no apparent reason, the ground was horrible but I wouldn’t necessarily use that as an excuse. Previous to that his first two runs over hurdles had shown promise.   Laurie is a lazy type of horse who will make up into a staying chaser eventually, he’s had little racing for a six year ...

One runner today at Hereford.   Donladd showed promise in both his bumper runs last season but we’ve had a nightmare time with him this winter, hence the long gap since his last race. It’s mainly been annoying little niggles until we realised he needed a wind operation before Christmas.  We were schooling in January when he pulled his front shoe off and he also took ...
