We’re having a pretty big clear out of horses this spring, some that haven’t made the grade, some that are not particularly well handicapped and a few that would benefit from a change of scenery. We’re still finalising exactly what is going to the Doncaster May sales but the entries are: West Street, Dominateur, Monkey Puzzle, Pontresina, Kaphumor, Brummie Boys, Norley and Le B...

Ffos Las. Bembridge was unlucky to be beaten last time out at Fontwell when another horse bailed him at the start costing him abut ten lengths out of the gate. I was going to finish him for the season after that run but because the weather has been so cold I couldn’t turn him away, we kept him going and he’s been in such good form at home I decided to run him again if we got any safe...

One runner today at Haydock.   Jersey wonder has thoroughly enjoyed his transition from flat to hurdling improving with each race. He was a decent stayer on the flat for Jamie Osborne so it seemed obvious that he would improve for a step up to three miles last time out at Exeter but until you run you don’t know for certain that will be the case, obviously it did suit him and he look...

One runner today at Southwell. Brummie has been a disappointing horse, he has not physically changed since the day I bought him and he’s always looked on the weak side. Last time out we resorted to the blinkers in an attempt to sharpen him up because he’s so lazy in his races, he did a bit too much over three miles that day so I’ve dropped him back by half a mile today. I&rsq...

One runner today at Sandown.   5.25pm Cervaro Mix runs in a handicap hurdle over 2m 4f.   Alan has had niggly issues after finishing second at Uttoxeter last September, then because the ground was so soft we gave him a good winter break in anticipation of a spring/summer campaign on his favoured good ground.   Alan takes a lot of work to get fit, mainly because he fi...

Two runners today at Perth.   If you ignore his last run where he found Taunton too sharp on good ground Monkey has been pretty consistent this season.   Monkey won first time out at Fontwell and he put up a brave performance that day, he looked beaten at the last fence but really stayed on well to grind out a win. He’s a horse that prefers decent ground so during the winter m...

Three runners today.   Chilli has been running over fences this season and after a good second on his debut he’s been a bit disappointing. We can’t get him to make a mistake at home but on a racecourse he seems to lose concentration and he’s certainly not bern fluent in his last two runs. I’ve reverted to hurdles today just to re boot his confidence for what will p...

Two runners today at Perth.   Peur De Rien won nicely last time out at Kempton following up a good second at Doncaster on his previous outing. Roger is a confidence horse who won first time out at Uttoxeter before pulling up on his next two starts when losing the plot, I hope he’s turned the corner on those issues and I’ve no reason to believe he hasn’t.   Roger is...

One runner today at Cheltenham.   Jersey Bean is a very genuine and consistent performer who is generally a good jumper. He will improve from his last race at Newbury, which was his first after a winter break, as he takes more work than you’d expect for a slight horse.   Bean loves top of the ground and he is a proper stayer, hopefully today he can continue in the same form he...

One runner today at Southwell 4.55pm Le Boulevardier runs in a novice handicap hurdle over 2m 4f.   After an inauspicious start over obstacles Brian has finally settled into the role of a jumper and he has become more professional over his obstacles both at home and on a racecourse. I’ve been dying to step him up in trip as I think all he does is gallop so this extra half a mile sh...
