Steve has won both his starts this season, he was more impressive last time out here when defying a penalty against some nice types and I did toy with the idea of running him in the Challow today but it looks a strong race on paper and his owner (Tim Syder) has another good horse running in the race.

Steve showed plenty of promise last winter but along with minor intermittent ulcer issues he was just too weak to finish his races strongly so we (Tim and myself) decided put him away and give him a long summer holiday to strengthen up.

If you ask any trainer they will tell you last summer was horse perfect...we had the right weather conditions and good grass, so he along with the rest of my string, came back looking great and he’s finally been able to fulfil the promise he showed when winning a bumper at Kempton as a four year old... two seasons ago.

Sevarano has grown in confidence after his two wins, he’s so much more switched on in his work now and it’s lovely to see him thriving and enjoying his training.

Steve is a star to deal with, he’s good to ride and kind in his stable.

He will be ridden by Leighton Aspell.

Sevarano is looked after and will be led up by Erin Pringle, he is ridden at home by Andy Llewellyn.
