Two runners today at Newbury.

12.10pm Sevarano runs in a maiden hurdle over 2m.
Steve was unlucky to bump into a smart horse (Eldorado Allen) at Sandown on his first outing over hurdles.
As there was no gallop so he had to help force the pace which didn’t suit him, he couldn’t go fast enough (through inexperience) to draw the sting out of the eventual winner and when Steve landed flat footed at the second last the winner swooped and got first run on him.
Leighton was not hard on him once he knew he wasn’t going to make up the deficit.
It was a good run, the winner is very highly thought of.

Steve is a very tall horse who is still a bit unfurnished, he jumps his hurdles like a chaser and that will be his game next season.

Steve is good to ride at home, he is a good work horse who loves his jumping and he is a kind person in his stable.

3.35pm Captain Peacock runs in a handicap hurdle over 3m.
Peacock was far from disgraced at Cheltenham last time out in a grade 2 hurdle over 2m 4f, he got done for a bit of toe coming down the hill before staying on nicely all the way to the line.
It was his best run to date and the step up in trip today should suit him, the ground however might not, all his best form on the flat and so far over jumps is on good ground or faster.
It is likely Peacock will go off for a mid season break after this, depending on how he handles conditions, as he’s been on the go for a good while now.

Peacock is a horse that has thrived since his patient owners gave him a good long break last winter with Mark Palmer, he arrived back at Rhonehurst looking fantastic, he is a stronger horse and seems to have a much more eager attitude to his racing.

They will be ridden by Leighton Aspell.

Steve is looked after, will be led up and is ridden at home by Erin Pringle.
Peacock is looked after and will be led up by Quinten Leceour who also rides him on the odd occasion Josh Apiafi isn’t available.
