Some sad news...
Last week my vet of nearly thirty years, Paul Ferguson, died of a massive heart attack.
He was in his early sixties.
After Paul graduated from Glasgow university in 1981 he then had spells in Australia and Newmarket before settling in Lambourn at the Valley Equine Hospital in the early nineties and becoming my vet, he remained there until his premature death.
Through his previous experiences, he bought fresh ideas and techniques with him and he was someone that loved to explain and explore and push boundaries within his veterinary work.
There are often horses that make you scratch your head and he loved to find the key to successfully treating them, we’d have long discussions over the best way forward....I loved those chats and I’ll miss them so much along with his favourite quote “knowledge is power”.
Paul was a loving father to Sam & Katie, he was a consummate professional in his work and he was my friend who I spoke to every day.
At times of stress over the years we always joked about disappearing to run a beach bar on the other side of the world .....and that’s how I shall think of him now......I’ll miss you buddy but keep a cold one ready for me RIP
