Three runners today at Taunton.

12.25pm Mr Dorrell Sage runs in a novice hurdle over 2m.
Dorrell ran in a decent race at Stratford first time out, he looked booked for a minor place before stopping to nothing turning into the home straight.
He was sore after the race, he had been struck into and it was quite nasty.
It would most likely have affected him but he would not have beaten the smart winner regardless.
Dorrell won nicely first time over hurdles at Fontwell last spring after a wind op, his hurdling was good on that occasion and he traveled very well throughout the race.

Dorrell is an active horse that likes to get on with things, he’s a good work horse and enjoys his jumping.

1.35pm The Groovy Hoovy runs in a novice handicap hurdle over 3m.
Groovy was flat out from start to finish at Hereford last time out, it is a quick track and with such a big field it just didn’t suit him, he could never get involved.
I’ve put cheek pieces on him today for the first time to help him to travel better because he is a very lazy horse.

Groovy is a cheeky horse that only does what he has to but he did win nicely at Southwell first time up so he does have ability.

2.05pm Seaston Spirit runs in a novice chase over 3m.
Keith had a nasty fall at Kempton first time out in a three runner novice chase.
It was the fourth last and it was annoying because he’d jumped perfectly well until that point, careful but clever.
As I said at the time I think if Tom rode the race again he would have let him pop the fence instead of going for a big jump.
I know we all want to win races but first and foremost the novices need to get around on their debut over fences, it can make or break their careers.

Fortunately Keith was unharmed and seemed to show no ill effects in schooling sessions since, hopefully it won’t have left a mark on his confidence but that’s something we won’t know until he runs.

Keith is another cheeky character at home who used to be a bit of a boy to ride but thankfully for Erins sake he’s a lot better this season.

They will be ridden by Leighton Aspell.

Dorrell and Seaston are both looked after by Marcel Danihel and he will lead them up.
Dorrell is ridden at home by Janine Hamilton and Seaston by Erin Pringle.
Groovy is looked after by C.J. he will be led up by Elle Lloyd and he is also ridden at home by Janine
