23rd November - Southwell
Two runners today at Southwell.
12.50pm What’s Occurring runs in a handicap chase over 3m.
Gavin has been a delicate horse to train hence why he is so lightly raced, he’s a horse that does have ability but he’s just had no luck in recent times.
He had a horrible fall here two stars ago, it was too far out to know how he’d have run but he was still traveling extremely well. He’d jumped brilliantly up until that point so it was all a bit of a shock to him.
That fall seemed to have affected his confidence last time out at Exeter where he didn’t travel into his fences but it was also thick fog that day so who knows if that also made any difference to him.
Gavin has done plenty of schooling to recapture his confidence and he’s done it all easily at home, the proof is now on the racecourse but I’ve added some cheek pieces to try and help him.
Gavin is a sweet horse to deal with, he’s very gentle and kind by nature.
2.55pm Bembridge runs in a novice handicap hurdle over 2m 4f.
Bembridge ran perfectly ok on his reappearance this season at Ffos Las.
It rained there (as usual) and the ground got worse through the day, I was tempted not to run but Johnny looked after him once he knew he couldn’t win and he came back from there fine.
The majority of my horses have needed a run this season and he’s no exception, he’s much sharper for that outing and seems in good form.
Bembridge is also a kind horse to deal with and he’s a gent to ride.
They will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.
What’s Occurring is looked after and will be led up by Lisa Falkowski, he is ridden at home by Stefan Namesansky.
Bembridge is looked after and will be led up by Marcel Danihel, he is ridden at home by Tara Moore.
