One runner today at Exeter.

2.40pm Makety runs in a mares novice hurdle over 2m 1f.
Makety ran better than her form suggests at Hereford on her first outing for us after winning a point to point bumper over 2m the previous spring.
Because she had won a bumper over 2m I presumed she would want further than 2m over hurdles, and I hold my hands up ...I was wrong.
Makety travelled really nicely last time out and she just didn’t get home, I broke my own rule that day because even if I think a horse wants further I usually begin them at 2 or 2m 1f first time out, often they are fresh and I’d rather they were staying on at the finish than going backwards.

Makety is by Black Sam Bellamy and I have a few of them now, I love them but I have learnt that they are not flash at home yet on a racecourse they are completely different, they surprise you.

Makety came back from that race stiff and sore behind, it took Michelle (our physio) a few weeks to get her back in good working order again.

Makety is a lovely mare to train, she’s very honest and willing.

She will be ridden by Liam Heard.

Makety is looked after and will be led up by Beth Dutton, she is ridden at home by Amy Deans.
