Two runners today at Ludlow.

Ballaquane ran perfectly respectably last month on his debut over hurdles after a long absence, he’s a good moving horse so the conditions would not have been ideal for him that day but that’s how the ground was at the time and I needed to get him on a track.

Ballaquane will prefer this better ground today and whilst I expect him to run well in all honesty he’ll probably fare better once he has a handicap mark.

He’ll likely make up into a better chaser next season but he did look a decent prospect in his bumper so let’s hope he returns to that level today.

Ballaquane is a good looking son of Scorpion, he’s easy to deal with and good to ride.

Jersey Lady has improved with each race over hurdles this season, she became too keen in her bumpers last year but hurdles have concentrated her mind which in turn has helped her to settle better.

She is from a stout staying family so because she’s now relaxing more in her races I’ve been able to step her up in trip, it was three miles last time at Doncaster and she was ridden with restraint to make sure she got home.

Jersey Lady should continue to improve with racing the more she relaxes and gets into a rhythm the more she’ll be able to be ridden like the staying filly she is.

Jersey Lady is an easy filly to deal with in her stable, she’s fairly good to ride but she can still be strong at times on the gallops.

They will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.

Ballaquane is looked after and will be led up by Megan Brown who also shares riding him at home with Charlie Mann.

Jersey Lady is looked after, will be led up,and she is ridden at home by Beth Dutton.
