20th January - Newbury
Two runners today at Newbury.
Feodora ran well enough last time out here on similar ground, she looked as if she might hold on for fourth before tiring badly from two out. It was her first outing of the season so she was entitled to improve for the run given the testing conditions.
Feodora is a good looking mare who works nicely at home, she’s an out and out galloper who would get further than this and might fare better in handicaps.
Lady showed a good level of form in her three bumpers all on soft/ heavy ground, niggly problems including lung infections kept her off the course last winter so this is her first outing for 431 days.
Lady did plenty of schooling last winter and has continued this season, she jumps well if a little deliberate, which is not a bad fault.
Lady is as fit as I can get her at home but even though she will love the ground it would be a big ask to expect her to run right up to her best after such a long lay off.
That said she is a tough mare who is very competitive.
Lady is a small mare who would be a better work horse than Feodora but the latter mare would have more scope as a future chaser.
Feodora will be ridden by Jamie Bargary and Lady In Hiding by Daryl Jacob.
Feodora is looked after and she will be led up by Jan Soldan, she is ridden at home by Emma Chugg.
Lady In Hiding is looked after and she will be led up by Mila Lunackova, she is ridden at home by Charlotte Reid.
