17th May - Ffos Las
3.30pm Peur De Rien runs in a handicap chase over 3m
Roger had a successful season last winter and apart from two races where he pulled up through confidence issues he’s been consistent.
Roger has really taken to fences and as a big long striding horse he loves to get into a good rhythm, Ffos Las is a course with two long straights so it should suit him.
Roger has remained in good form and this will probably be his last run before a summer break, he’s fresh and well so fingers crossed he can retain his consistency.
Roger is a kind, gentle horse who is a beautiful mover he can be gassy at home but he is basically good to ride.
He will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.
Peur De Rien will be led up by Cameron Baker.
Ben Wishart my farrier, and Stefan my head lad have worked tirelessly on Joey to keep him right and to get him to a racecourse but unfortunately he pulled off both front shoes early on in his last race at Hereford and had to be pulled up and he was sore afterwards.
It’s an impossible situation and as the old saying goes “no foot, no horse”.
He will enjoy a new life of light hacking, he’s a kind, honest horse and I hope he enjoys a long and happy life.
Alan has had his issues, mainly due to poor conformation but he was a horse with tremendous ability.
I’m delighted that his owners Andrew and Kate Brooks gave him to Flora Alessandroni who looked after him at Rhonehurst, she is thoroughly looking forward to guiding him through the next phase of his life and she adores him.
Good luck to both horses in the future.
