16th March - Hereford
Two runners today at Hereford.
Juliet won her second start over fences at Southwell on ground like this, she jumped well that day and really saw the trip out.
It might be best to ignore her last outing at Wetherby when she pulled off a front shoe and finished very sore, she doesn’t have the best feet so it definitely affected her and she took a while to come back right again.
Sometimes horses can lose shoes in a race and it makes no difference to them, particularly on softer ground but obviously because she has feet issues it did have an impact on her performance and whilst we don’t know for sure when she lost the plate she went from traveling to nothing after turning into the home straight so I guess it was somewhere there.
Juliet is normally a good jumper, she can be a bit over careful to begin with and she warms up as the race goes on.
Juliet is a sweet mare to deal with but she’d “kick the eye out of a money spider” if anything gets close to her backside in the string
This will be his first run for us having run in three point to points, winning his final start, then being bought by Tim Syder in December.
Ocean Drifter is a neat good looking horses who was quite a buzzy horse when he first arrived here, he’s settled down a lot now but can still be keen at times.
He works nicely but as with all my bumper horses I just want him to enjoy the whole experience and for us to learn about him.
They will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.
No No Juliet is looked after, will be led up and is ridden at home by Nikola Studena.
