Four runners today.

Huntingdon.

3.15pm Manning Estate runs in a novice handicap chase over 2m 4f.
Flash has schooled well over fences at home and this will be his first run over fences.

Flash has been a consistent horse to date and he scored once over hurdles last season, he’s a galloper who looked one paced at times over hurdles when there wasn’t a strong enough pace for him early on in a race.
He’s always looked as if he’d make a better chaser.

Flash has grown up a lot over the summer, he was always a bit of a play boy at home, bucking and messing around all the time but so far this season he’s been very good ....we’ll see today if that’s a good sign.

3.50pm Ventura Dragon runs in a handicap hurdle over 2m.
Ventura had a reasonably successful career on the flat before joining me when his form tailed off and he’s been ok so far over hurdles but he hasn’t set the world alight.
Ventura prefers some cut in the ground but the watered and subsequently rain softened ground last time out became too testing for him and he didn’t get home at Worcester.

Ventura is a sweet horse at home, easy to ride and to do anything with.

4.20pm Seaston Spirit runs in a handicap chase over 3m.
Keith had a horrible fall first time out over fences last season at Kempton at the third last.
He had jumped carefully but fine until that point, it was the worst possible start for him and even though he was placed a couple of times over fences after that I slightly felt he was just going through the motions.

We reverted to hurdles for his last three races but as a soft ground horse he never really got his favoured conditions back in that sphere.

Confidence is so important to all horses but especially the novices beginning their careers and as with Manning Estate in the previous race my first priority is always a clear round.

Keith has been much more fluent in his schooling at home this season, there was nothing wrong with it last winter but he was always slow and careful, hopefully that will now transfer to a racecourse.

They will be ridden by Leighton Aspell.

Hereford.

3.25pm Pontresina runs in a handicap hurdle over 3m 1f.
Pontresina has had a year off after picking up a minor tendon injury on his last outing at Wincanton when finishing second.
Pontresina is a consistent horse, a very good jumper and as honest as the day is long.
He’s as fit as I can get him but he is bound to sharpen up for the run.

Pontresina has physically developed since he last ran, he’s not over tall (16.1) but he’s a strong bodied horse now who has already won a point to point so he’s big enough to go on a make a chaser.

Pontresina is a kind horse, very straightforward and easy to deal with.

He will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.

Manning Estate is looked after and will be led up by Flora Alessandroni, he is ridden at home by Nikola Studena.
Seaston Spirit is looked after, will be led up and is ridden at home by Erin Pringle.
Ventura Dragon is looked after, will be led up and is ridden at home by Mila Lunackova.
Pontresina is looked after and will be led up by Jan Soldan, he is ridden at home by Nikola Studena.
