Two runners today at Doncaster.

12.35pm Spice War runs in a novice hurdle over 2m.
Spice ran with a lot of promise at Kempton on his first outing over hurdles.
Because he was a stayer on the flat we started him over an extended two miles but he was just too weak to get home over the trip.....at two miles he’d have been placed in a decent Kempton race.

We gave Spice a break after that, he’s a big backward horse and he’s already shown a good level of ability, we have to allow him to strengthen up in order to realise his potential.

Spice is a gent at home, he’s easy to deal with and to ride.

2.45pm Paseo runs in a juvenile hurdle over 2m.
Paseo was incredibly brave last time out when winning against older horses at Fontwell, that was over three furlongs further and on soft ground so it was unknown territory on only his fourth ever race.

Paseo is a horse that is still growing, he’s not a sharp three year old but he is improving, he jumps his hurdles like a chaser and I think he will only get better with time.
I’m mindful of giving him a break between his races but he’s been so fresh at home lately I needed to run him again before he did someone some harm ??

Paseo is a lovely horse, he’s a cheeky happy person.

They will be ridden by Leighton Aspell.

Spice is looked after and will be led up by Erin Pringle, he is ridden at home by his co owner Josh Apiafi.
Paseo is looked after by Amy Deans who shares riding him at home with
