Two runners tonight at Southwell

These will be our first runners from our new yard, Neardown Stables, formerly the training yard of Charlie Mann who retired at the end of last season. So far everything has settled in well to their new surroundings but the majority of the string will be coming in over the next ten days.
It’s a fresh start and let’s hope that the yard will be lucky for us ????????
6.15pm What’s Occurring runs in a handicap chase over 3m.
Gavin picked up an injury after his second outing last season which required a couple of months of box rest, he’s fully recovered now and this will be his second outing since.
Gavin ran well on his debut this season at Uttoxeter when finishing second, even though he had done plenty of work at home he still got a bit tired towards the end of the race so there is plenty of improvement in him.
This will be his first attempt at three miles, I’ve wanted to step him up for
a while but he can be too keen when he’s fresh so I had to get a run under his belt before trying it.
Gavin is a tall, good looking horse who is very gentle to deal with.
6.45pm Puffin Bay runs in a bumper over 2m.
This will be her first race.
Puffin Bay is a home bred filly from the family of Mighty Man, who was a prolific staying hurdler in the early 2000’s.
Puffin Bay is a neat, pretty filly who is easy to deal with and to ride.
They will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.
