Four runners today.

Taunton

Jersey Wonder had good staying flat form when trained by Jamie Osborne, his owner Tony Taylor has horses with us both so Jersey Wonder moved to me a couple of months ago.

Initially I sent him to Clairey and Chris Bonner to have a couple of weeks away from Lambourn and whilst there Claire did some grid work and show jumping with him.

He took to it quickly and he’s got a good jump in him, plenty of scope.

He’s done plenty of schooling with us since he came back from there and he’s improved each time but more importantly he enjoys it.

Jersey Wonder was a thorough stayer on the flat so this trip may be on the short side for him but it will give us a chance to asses him to see where we go from here.

Jersey Wonder is a character at home, he’s easy to deal with but he can be quite cheeky.

He will be ridden by Gavin Sheehan.

Minella won his only race, a point to point in Ireland, easily and he was then bought by Trevor Hemmings for 100k that was two years ago.

He originally went into training with Paul Nicholls who experienced ongoing lameness issues with him, this culminated in him having several bone chips removed from his knees last spring.

Minella joined me in the autumn and then when Mr Hemmings decided to cull his string he went through the sales ring where I bought him back for 15k.

Obviously the operation Minella had worked and we’ve not had any problems with him since he arrived here in August.

Minella works nicely at home, he’s not flashy he’s a proper galloper who will stay further than this. He has done plenty of work and he’s as fit as I can get him but he is bound to be sharper for an outing.

Book has been a disappointing and inconsistent horse since his novice hurdle season, he does have ability but unless things go his way he isn’t the most resolute these days.

He won this race twelve months ago and the ground today will be more suitable than on his debut at Southwell. where he never travelled, he is wearing first time blinkers so let’s hope they bring about the necessary improvement.

Book was once a bit of a lad at home but he’s good to ride now and it could be that he needs a change of scenery so we will reassess his future after today.

They will be ridden by Brendan Powell.

This will be his first race.

Devonshire Rocco is a good looking son of Shirocco who is from a good jumping family.

Rocco is a good workhorse at home but as with all of my bumper horses he will improve for the whole experience and my main priority is for him to finish his race well and to enjoy his day out.

Rocco is a kind person to deal with and he’s pretty good to ride, he can occasionally be a bit buzzy but he’s improving.

He will be ridden by Richard Johnson.

Jersey Wonder is looked after and will be led up by Beth Dutton, he is ridden at home by Kai Lenihan.

Minella Royale is looked after and will be led up by Cameron Baker, he is ridden at home by Amy Deans or Tarnya.

Book Of Gold is looked after and will be led up by Jan Soldan, he is ridden at home by Josh Apiafi.

Devonshire Rocco is looked after and will be led up by Gracie O’Reilly, he is ridden at home by Charlotte Reid.
