10th October - Exeter
One runner today at Exeter.
2.20pm Working Class runs in a conditional jockeys handicap hurdle over 2m 3f.
Working Class won on his penultimate start after having a wind operation, he then went on to be second last time out when stepped up in trip.
Working Class has always been a horse we thought would get further once he relaxed in his races, he was very strong initially, but I would say two and a half would be about his optimum trip after his last run (that was 2m 5f).
He settled nicely and jumped extremely well but I think he didn’t quite see out the extra furlong.
Today we have dropped him back to 2m 3f and because Exeter is a stiff track this trip should be ideal, the track should suit him and even though he did disappoint around here once before that was on soft ground which he didn’t enjoy.
Working Class is a very easy horse to deal with at home, he’s straightforward and a nice person in his stable.
He will be ridden by Harry Beswick.
Working Class is looked after and will be led up by Megan Brown, he is ridden at home by Quinten Leceour.
Update on the last couple of runners ...whilst I have time.... the race came too soon for Spice War, Tom thought he was very flat and never travelled.
He will have a short break and then begin his hurdling career probably next month.
I was delighted with Vinnie The Hoddie, he was giving over a stone to the (fav) winner.
Vinnie ran with the choke out a bit early on but most importantly his jumping was very good, the fences at Wincanton are big and the three in the home straight stand up at you and can prove problematic especially for novices.
It was an encouraging start.
Both horses are fine post race ??
