10th June - Uttoxeter
7.40pm - What’s Occurring runs in a handicap chase over 2m 4f.
After winning at Ludlow on his chase debut in 2019, Gavin has been lightly raced since due to injuries.
He is a talented horse who was a reasonably good hurdler and we always expected him to go on and make a better chaser.
Gavin had two runs last season finishing third at Bangor on unsuitable ground over an inadequate trip before disappointing next time out at Kempton after which he was found to have a stress fracture of his hind cannon bone.
Gavin has been given plenty of time to recover from that injury and he has been in full work for several months now so he should be fit enough but he might run with the choke out after such a long lay off.
He is a horse that needs good ground and I think he’ll improve for a step up to three miles after today once he’s got the freshness out of him.
Gavin is a sweet horse to deal with, he’s good to ride but he can be strong at times on the gallops.
He will be ridden by Brendan Powell.
