10th April - Warwick
Two runners today at Warwick.
3.15pm Sammy Bill runs in a novice hurdle over 2m.
Bill ran well enough on his first outing for us in January before disappointing at Huntingdon last month.
He was pretty keen on both occasions but definitely more so last time therefore he didn’t finish his race.
Bill will be ridden with much more restraint this time to get him to settle, he is a thorough galloper with a big stride on him so it’s not the ideal way to ride him but he must relax in his races if he is to fulfill his potential.
Bill is a very tall, leggy horse who is still on the weak side.
He works very nicely at home and loves his jumping, hurdles are almost too small for him.
Bill is a lovely person to deal with, a gentle giant.
5.25pm Book Of Gold runs in a handicap hurdle over 2m 5f.
Book has had every test known to man after having a disappointing season, he was found to have ulcers before Christmas but they weren’t bad.
He was successfully treated for them and he had a good break, we then decided to bring him back to hurdles in case his confidence was low but he still failed to sparkle.
Because of his love for heavy ground it could just be that he had a tough season last year and it’s taking time to recover, who knows but you sometimes see that in horses that have had a good novice year then struggle for a season after.
Book still shows all of his enthusiasm at home, he is a dour staying type who will gallop all day at his own speed, he always jumps well at home.
Book is a sweet horse, he was a bit of a boy to ride at one stage but he’s grown up now.
They will be ridden by Leighton Aspell.
Bill is looked after and will be led up by Marcel Danihel, he is ridden at hone by Flora Alessandroni.
Book is looked after and will be led up by Erin Pringle, he is ridden at home by Stefan Namesansky.
