9th December - Warwick
One runner today at Warwick.
12.50pm Royal Lake runs in a maiden hurdle over 2m 5f.
Terry has run in two point to points in Ireland before being sent to me by the late Trevor Hemmings and this will be my first runner in his familiar colours since his sad death.
Terry fell in his first point and then finished third next time out, I’m not sure what the form is worth but he did have to have a wind operation shortly after arriving here so hopefully there will be plenty of improvement in him.
Terry is a tall horse who is not flashy on the gallops but he does seem to be relentless in his work, he has always schooled well at home.
He’s done plenty of work but he is bound to be sharper for an outing and gaining experience in a big fields will do him good.
This is a very competitive race with a maximum field of 18.
Because we’ve had such a dry autumn followed by a short spell of rain, which has led immediately to heavy ground at some tracks, anywhere we get decent ground now (good to soft) will attract plenty of runners in the novice department for the time being. So there will be no easy options.
He will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.
Royal Lake is looked after, will be led up and he is ridden at home by Beth Dutton.
