Three runners today at Uttoxeter.

Cervaro Mix (Alan) ran well on his seasonal debut at Southwell last month when finishing a close up third.

Gavin gave him a patient ride on that occasion because he can be very keen when he’s fresh but they went a good gallop in the race so he actually settled nicely.

Alan will improve for that outing but he is carrying top weight today and he’s not over big.

Alan is a sweet horse at home although he can be strong on the gallops.

He will be ridden by Gavin Sheehan.

Jersey Bean has run over fences three times previously and his jumping has been good but a bit too careful.

Bean went over to Henrietta Knight a month ago where he did some intensive schooling and she suggested we try blinkers on him, not because he is ungenuine but to get him to concentrate more on his fences, we have used them on him at home and his jumping is more accurate as a result.

Bean has ability but he’s not the biggest horse and when the handicapper had him in his grip he was unable to shoulder the big weights in lower grade hurdle races but he found bigger races a bit too competitive.

Bean is a cheeky horse by nature, a bit of a playboy but harmless.

He will be ridden by Brendan Powell.

Vinnie The Hoddie ran a blinder here last week in a competitive race where four horses had a chance winning going to the last fence, Vinnie had been a bit keen early on in the race that day so unfortunately he had no more to offer on the run in.

The most pleasing thing about that run was his jumping, he’s got tons of scope at home but he can lose concentration in a race and as result he lost his confidence last winter.

I am concerned that this race may come a bit soon for him but there is nothing else for him for a few weeks and long gaps between his races doesn’t really suit him either as he gets too fresh and keen again ....then you’re back to square one.

Vinnie is a talented horse but he is a work in progress, he just needs a few confidence boosting clear rounds and to learn to relax in his races so I can eventually step him up in trip because all he does is gallop.

Vinnie is a gent to deal with but he is cold backed to get on and he can be strong on the gallops.

He will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.

Cervaro Mix is looked after, ridden at home and will be led up by Flora Alessandroni.

Jersey Bean is looked after, ridden at home and will be led up by Gracie O’Reilly.

Vinnie The Hoddie is looked after, ridden at home and will be led up by Megan Brown.
