Before talking about todays runner it’s pretty obvious my horses haven’t fired since Christmas, we’ve had one winner and plenty of disappointments, some have had genuine excuses but the majority have underperformed by a long way.

The horses have been fresh and well at home and they look great so it’s been a frustrating time.

We’ve had some blood tests and trachea washes done in the last ten days which have shown that things are not quite right with some horses but it appears to be nothing serious.

The majority of the string are now having a quiet time doing just one canter each day until their blood tests etc are 100%, they are as fresh as paint so you really would not know there is anything amiss.

Cilaos Glace has had clear tests so there is no reason why he can’t run but it’s hard to be confident at the moment until the horses strike form again.

One runner today at Fontwell.

Chilli (Booty) returned to form last time out here at Fontwell (under todays jockey) much to everyone’s delight, he’s been a horse that has been difficult to train due to constant niggly issues, so along with his patient owners all of the credit must go to my head lad Stefan and Buffy Shirley Bevan (vet) for their constant attention to him.

Chilli had another small issue (only an infection that took time to clear) since his last run and he was due to race at the abandoned Market Rasen ten days ago but touch wood we’ve had no problems with him in the last few weeks and he’s been buzzing at home on the gallops.

He does love heavy ground so I hope they’ve had plenty of the rain that was forecast.

Chilli hates vets, he’s seen too many of them in his life but he’s basically easy to deal with otherwise and generally good to ride but he can be strong at times.

He will be ridden by Tom Cannon.

Cilaos Glace is looked after and will be led up by Shannon Passotti, he is ridden at home by Stefan Namesansky.
