5th May - Huntingdon
1.40pm Rhebus Road runs in a handicap hurdle over 2m.
Rhebus ran ok on his handicap debut at Taunton, he looked as if he would be placed turning into the home straight before fading to be fifth.
With hindsight my horses weren’t running that well at the time so hopefully that was the reason.
Brendan felt he would have learnt a lot that day as they went a very strong gallop and he had to cope with the hurly burly of racing against handicappers and jumping at speed, after all that was only his third run over hurdles.
Rhebus is a tough little devil who takes a lot of work and he thrives on it, he loves his jumping and he’ll enjoy this better ground.
I was initially a little bit disappointed with Nazwa’s run at Warwick last time out when he finished fourth but to be fair to him he lost both of his front shoes and took a bit of his foot off too so that must have been sore on the run in.
Apart from his run at Hereford after which he had wind surgery Nazwa has improved with each outing, he seems to enjoy hurdles and I think this step up in trip will suit him along with first time cheek pieces.
3.55pm Nazwa runs in a handicap hurdle over 2m 4f.
Nazwa was a very sour horse when he arrived at Neardown but he enjoys life now and although he makes faces at you in the stable it’s all bravado.
They will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.
Rhebus Road is looked after by Amy Deans, he will be led up by Beth.
Nazwa is looked after will be led up and he is ridden at home by Beth Dutton.
