4th March - Newbury
One runner today at Newbury.
Guerlain was due to run at Ascot two weeks ago but when he arrived at the course he was in a muck sweat.
This was not usual for him ..the vet checked him over and found nothing wrong but my travelling head girl Amy was still concerned because he didn’t drink anything.
As a result we decided not to run him, he travelled back perfectly well and has shown no ill effects since.
Guerlain stayed on well to just get up on the line to win by a head in his most recent race, he showed a good attitude on that occasion and even though the runner up had the excuse of a sloppy jump at the last the track was sharp enough for our boy.
Guerlain was bought by The Million In Mind syndicate from The Crawfords and we’ve enjoyed a lot of success over the years with horses that have come down that route, The Organist being a prime example. The horses are always so well schooled when they arrive and they are horses that know their job but haven’t been overtrained, leaving plenty for us to work with.
Guerlain is a tall horse who is still pretty unfurnished, he’s honest loves his jumping and will enjoy this ground/trip.
As I pointed out recently some of my horses have been under a bit of a cloud and Guerlain has not had any problems, his blood tests and trachea washes have been good BUT it is still a worry until you see the horses hit some form again.
He will be ridden by Jonathan Burke.
Guerlain De Vaux is looked after and will be led up by Shannon Passotti, he is ridden at home by Stefan Namesansky.
