Two runners today at Newbury.

3.55pm Book Of Gold runs in a handicap hurdle over 3m.
Book reverted to hurdles last time out after he had received treatment for ulcers that had seen him run poorly this season.

Unfortunately the ground that day although given as good to soft it rode proper good ground, this was nobody’s fault ...it’s just a circumstance of the ridiculous winter we’ve had.
As a result of the ground the race was run at a frenetic pace, this didn’t suit Book and because he takes so much work to get fit Leighton was never able to fill his lungs.

The ground today is likely to be too quick for him again today but he is ready to roll and his owners deserve the chance to see him on a racecourse, it’s been an awful winter for heavy ground horses.

Book has ability and jumps a fence perfectly well, I’ve only reverted to hurdles to try and help him regain some confidence after his ulcer issues.

5.00pm Lady In Hiding runs in a mares bumper over 2m.
Lady is a half sister to Hitherjaques Lady, who I adore, she unfortunately picked up an injury first time out so is out for the season but she was a mare with tremendous ability.
I bought Lady as a result of knowing Hitherjaques and she is very similar in both nature and stature, that said she is more streetwise than Hitherjaques was at this stage but she is also a bit more on the ball and may need to be relaxed early on today.

Lady is a kind mare, just like her sister, she is fairly straightforward to deal with but can get a bit buzzy at times. Janine has done a good job with her.

They will be ridden by Leighton Aspell.

Book is looked after and will be led up by Erin Pringle, he is ridden at home by Jan Soldan.

Lady is looked after and will be led up by Mila Lunackova, she is ridden at home by Janine Hamilton.
