1st February - Wetherby
A quick update on yesterday, Seaston is fine he’s won two average races by wide margins and the race was too competitive for him, he’ll be ok back in his own grade.
Shaughnessy was found to have a fibrillating heart post race, he will be assessed by my own vets in the coming days but it’s very treatable and you may remember Denman suffered the same thing at one stage.
One runner today at Wetherby.
Dominateur has won his last two races over fences at Chepstow nicely, having fallen on his chase debut at Carlisle.
Dominateur could be above average but he’s an extraordinary horse to watch as he races lazily and looks as if he’s going nowhere, then when his jockey shakes him up he almost gets to the front too soon then he can lose concentration and belt the odd fence...he takes a bit of knowing but he can be like that in his work at home, mostly lazy but occasionally he will get lit up and a bit uptight if something upsets him.
Dominateur will love the ground and I’m hoping he’s grown in confidence from his wins and concentrates on the job in hand.
Dominateur is a very good looking horse who is nice to ride and gentle to deal with.
He will ridden by Leighton Aspell.
Dominateur is looked after and will be led up by Marcel Danihel, he is ridden at home by Beth Dutton.
